Textile Factory Experience & Sleepover at the EC (Feb. 27)
Step into history with a visit to the Zisimatos textile factory in Ermoupolis, a unique survivor of the 68 once thriving factories on Syros. Dating back to 1986, this preserved gem invites you to experience the past through the eyes of its 40 former workers.
Try on a worker’s apron, fill out a work card, and follow the footsteps of the production line. Hear stories from weavers, experience the sounds of sewing machines, and feel the atmosphere of the factory as you explore its operations and history. The journey concludes with a traditional meal, offering a taste of Syros’s heritage.
Joining this remarkable adventure is not just an exploration of history; it is a commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of Syros. The NGO Hermoupolis Heritage, the driving force behind this initiative, envisions Syros as a thriving cultural center, where people actively participate in preserving the island's buildings, objects, and stories. By rescuing and restoring the Zisimatos textile factory, Hermoupolis Heritage has created an experiential journey that goes beyond time, offering a unique window into the lives of the island's workers.

Sign-up Deadline: Friday 4th of October at 12:00 pm
Sleepover info:
- Drop off at the EC is at 19:00.
The sleepover is available only for Explorers and Pathfinders, and not for Trailblazers.
What if my child does not want to stay the night? If you prefer that your child attend the event, but they would like to sleep at home, this is also possible. Please inform the coordinator and pick them up by 11pm.
Who will be supervising the event? Your educators will be present for the evening and enjoying the festivities with your children.
What to bring? Pillow, blanket, hygiene Items (toothbrush and toothpaste), clothes for the next day, medication (if needed), stuffed animals or comfort items, and pajamas they like to sleep in.
Where will they sleep? In the classrooms that are well heated and on mattresses that we provide along with some cots.
Non-Sleepers info: If your child does not spend the night, please bring them back for the school day on Friday at 8:30am to join in on the day.
- Tickets: If your child spends the night, please choose the ticket: Child Sleepover (€0) If your child does not spend the night, please choose the ticket: Child Pick Up at 11 (€0).
- Additional Notes: We will provide snacks, dinner, and breakfast. Please let us know if your child requires special accommodations for this event.
