Explore Kotor: Gornji Stoliv walking tour (Nov. 4)
Exploring Gornji Stoliv with a walking tour thru chesnut woods is quite the experience. Fall is the ideal period for this walk thru the colorful leaves and the views of the Bay. A short drive away from the center of Kotor is the small fishing village of Stoliv that dates back to the 14th century. Stoliv has two parts, the lower Stoliv (by the sea with about 500 inhabitants), and Upper Stoliv which is abandoned. Besides chesnuts on this walk you may encounter goats roaming free, squerils and muels. But then you arrive at the top, to the Gornji Stoliv village that has kept its century long original form and authenticity.
This hike offers a variety of trails suited to different fitness levels. The landscape itself is a highlight, thru the chesnut woods and fall foliage, and the Adriatic Sea as your backdrop. You might encounter historical remnants like churches or abandoned houses, which add to the charm at this location. Be sure to pack plenty of water and sun protection, as there might not be amenities on the trails themselves.
