Viareggio Carnival Experience (Feb. 11)
Immerse yourself in the carnival atmosphere with live music, dance performances, and entertainment for all ages. Experience the energy and excitement that characterize this world-renowned celebration.
One of the best known in Italy, the Carnival in Viareggio has its origins at the end of the 19th century.
The parades draw thousands of visitors of all ages, who come to see both the spectacular floats and parade as well as participate in the festive air that can be breathed in the town on the days of the masquerade processions. They are characterized by elaborate papier-mâché floats – true works of art crafted by the dedicated Viareggio float builders who dedicate an entire year to their creation. No politician, man of culture, or entertainer from any part of the world is spared, becoming the protagonist of one of those floats that seemingly come to life during the parade, moving their arms, opening their mouths, and rotating their eyes.
The "Carnevale di Viareggio" actually takes place over an entire month with 5 days of processions each year. These are held on 4 Sundays and one on Fat Tuesday.
Our Carnival adventure will begin at the train station, as we will reach Viareggio by train.
After a stroll, we will all have lunch together at the Antica Locanda di Luca.
Right after lunch, starting at 3 PM, we will participate in the Viareggio Carnival Parades, also known as Corsi Mascherati. This annual event takes place on the Viali a Mare, just a short walk from the beach.
Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy, artistic expression, and joyous revelry that define the Viareggio Carnival Experience – an annual tradition that transforms this seaside town into the ultimate destination for Carnival enthusiasts worldwide.
