From Alithini you can admire the most beautiful view of the island: Ermoupoli, Ano Syros, Didimi islet on which stands the lighthouse… But further back, when the atmosphere allows it, you can see Tinos and Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, and numerous smaller islands among them.
Alithini is a traditional village of Syros, built on the slope of one of the hills in the center of the island, at an altitude of 190 meters. It has about 80 permanent residents.
We will discover the winter cave of Pherecydes next to Agios Georgios church.
Pherecydes of Syros (fl. 6th century BCE) was an ancient Greek mythographer and proto-philosopher from Syros, often considered a teacher of Pythagoras. Little is known about his life, but he is recognized for systematizing mythological narratives and exploring divine nature. His writings likely drew from secret Phoenician texts, reflecting his influence on early philosophical thought.
Don't forget to wear your training clothes and training shoes and bring water if you feel you will need it!
