Walking Tour: Sintra the Romantic Village (Jan. 16)
This guided walk will take you to discover some of the monuments and biodiversity of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, which was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. In this tour, our expert guide/biologist Filipa, will introduce you to the history of Sintra’s village and monuments, where old palaces and a castle are part of a beautiful romantic landscape. You will also learn about the history of Sintra’s forest, where century-old trees and exotic plants invite you to travel around the world in your imagination!
We will walk through the streets of the historic centre and see the exterior of some of its iconic monuments. You will learn about the history of the National Palace of Sintra, Quinta da Regaleira, Biester Palace and Seteais Palace. Finally, we will visit the gardens of Vila Sassetti, a 19th century palace that was designed by architect Luigi Manini as the summer residence of Victor Sassetti.
